Rick Perry played to the South Carolina crowd at the Huckabee forum, referring to recent Department of Justice actions and saying, “when i’m President of the United States you don’t have to worry about the Justice Department messing with your business.”
“South Carolina,” he continued. “They’re actually at war with you.” He then went on to namecheck the DOJ’s recent filings against the state’s attempts to ramp up its voter ID laws. He also fulminated about the state “being forced to spend your money to defend your sovereign right” to set out “your own” immigration policies.
