George Little, the Department of Defense press secretary, will step down by Nov. 15, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Little announced his decision Friday in a statement, citing his need to spend more time with his family as a reason for leaving.

“One of my immediate goals is to have a Blackberry-free Thanksgiving dinner for the first time in several years,” Little said in the statement.

Little was spokesman for the Pentagon for two years under former Secretary Leon Panetta and Secretary Chuck Hagel. Panetta pulled Little over with him from the CIA.
