House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) issued this statement on the House Oversight Committee’s lawsuit against Attorney General Eric Holder for his alleged failure to comply with a subpoena related to the botched ATF operation known as Fast and Furious:

“This partisan lawsuit wastes taxpayer dollars and resources, and is a distraction from the urgent business before Congress: acting to create jobs and grow our economy.  It is also designed to distract the Justice Department from its critical job of challenging state laws designed to restrict the rights of Americans to vote.

“House Republicans have failed to extend taxes for the middle class, reauthorize the law assisting women victims of violence, prevent a default of the post office, or help farmers and rural families.  The American people deserve congressional leadership committed to working together to alleviate uncertainty and put people to work.  It’s time for Republican leaders to abandon this partisan lawsuit and join Democrats to strengthen our economy and our middle class.”
