Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) is pushing to elect “conservative majorities” in 2014 after his small bipartisan victory in negotiating the budget deal passed by the House last week.

Ryan sent out a fundraising email on Monday asking supporters to donate to help elect more Republicans to the House and Senate, according to the Huffington Post.

“This bill doesn’t go as far as I’d like, but it’s a good start,” the email reads. “If we want to fully solve our fiscal challenges, then we’ll need leadership in Washington committed to this goal.”

On Sunday, Ryan crushed hopes that the deal could lead to a grand bargain and said that Republicans need to win the Senate and the White House to “truly fix this country’s fiscal problems.” Ryan also defended conservative groups who quickly opposed his budget agreement that actually raised spending.
