Pastor Andy Stanley — of the North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Ga. — delivered the sermon on Inauguration Day at St. John’s Episcopal Church, urging President Obama to leverage the influence of the presidency “for the sake of our nation and the sake of the world.”

Obama and his family, along with Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden, attended a service at the church Monday. St. John’s, located across Lafayette Park from the White House, has hosted every President before Inauguration Day ceremonies since Franklin D. Roosevelt.
