A Pakistani President has not visited neighboring India since 2005, when then President Pervez Musharraf made a trip to Delhi. That will change on April 8th when Pakistan’s current President Asif Ali Zardari, will meet with his counterpart, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Mr. Zadari had planned a trip to a famous Muslim shrine in the Indian state of Rajasthan, which prompted Prime Minister Singh’s invitation for a lunch meeting. The BBC reports that the meeting is the result of modest improvements in relations between the fierce rivals over the past few months. Both Pakistan and India are eager to develop greater trade and economic ties.
