According to ABC News, more than 2,000 former football players will file a lawsuit Thursday morning against the National Football League, claiming that it knowingly concealed information tying football-related injuries to brain damage. The filing, whose claims are denied by the NFL, would constitute the largest lawsuit ever in American sports.

The players claim that the “NFL exacerbated the health risk by promoting the game’s violence,” while “deliberately and fraudulently” misleading players about the links between concussions and long-term brain damage. A spate of recent suicides by former NFL players have increased public scrutiny on the league’s approach to injuries.
