President Obama said at a campaign stop in Golden, Colo., Thursday that the United States would be “relentless” in pursing those who attacked the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya. The violence killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.

While Romney attacked Obama’s response and accused the president Thursday of weakening the American military, President Obama touted his foreign policy record and dedication to the country’s military strength.

“Four years ago, I promised to end the war in Iraq and we did,” Obama said. “I said we’d wind down the war in Afghanistan and we are. And while a new tower rises on the New York skyline, al Qaeda is on the path to defeat and Osama is dead.”

“But we see on our televisions that there’s still threats to the world,” Obama said. “That’s why we have to be relentless in pursing those who attacked us this week … as long as I’m commander in chief, we will sustain the strongest military” in the world.
