President Barack Obama is slated to travel Wednesday to Galesburg, Ill where he will give what the administration is billing as a major economic speech. The President is scheduled to deliver the address at 12:55 a.m. ET on the campus of Knox College.
From Illinois, Obama will travel to Warrensburg, Mo. to deliver remarks at the University of Central Missouri. The speeches are part of a campaign-style tour launched by the White House to shift the focus of the press and Capitol Hill back to the economy.
On Monday, Obama previewed the Galesburg speech while addressing supporters at an event held by Organizing for Action, the nonprofit group that was born out of his campaign operation.
“Here’s the thing: It will be a pretty good speech,” Obama said at the OFA event. “But I’ve given some pretty good speeches before. And things still get stuck here in Washington, which is why I’m going to need your help.”
