Obama Shrugs Off Question About His Influence In Second Term

At a press conference marking the first 100 days of his second term, President Barack Obama denied that his influence was waning in the face of recent setbacks in Congress — namely expanding gun background checks.

“If you put it that way Jonathan, maybe I should just pack up and go home,” Obama told ABC’s Jonathan Karl. “Golly!”

“Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated,” he added, quoting Mark Twain. “This habit of requiring 60 votes for even the most modest piece of legislation has gummed up the works there.”
