Obama Seeking Assault Weapons, High-Capacity Magazine Bans And Universal Background Checks

In his remarks unveiling the White House’s response to the Newtown, Conn., massacre, President Obama on Wednesday will ask Congress to pass a stronger ban on assault weapons than the one put in place in the 1990s and additionally ban ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. The President will also call for universal background checks for gun buyers, according to the White House.
