President Obama joked Thursday that after seeing Jack Lew’s signature, which will grace U.S. currency should the Senate confirm him as Secretary of Treasury, he considered rescinding his nomination.
“Jack assures me that he will work to make at least one letter legible so as not to debase our currency,” Obama said to laughter.
Obama officially nominated Lew to replace Timothy Geithner at a White House press conference. In his remarks, Lew acknowledged his unique signature.
“We both share a common challenge with penmanship,” he joked with Geithner.
