President Obama has issued emergency declarations in seven states and the District of Columbia in the path of Hurricane Sandy.
Those states are Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Maryland and Washington, D.C.
Federal aid will supplement state and local response efforts in these states and “FEMA is authorized to identify, mobilize, and provide at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency,” a White House email explains.
