Last night on the “The Tonight Show,” host Jay Leno asked returning guest President Barack Obama about his budding “bromance” with one-time challenger Sen. John McCain (R-AZ).

“That’s how a classic romantic comedy goes. Initially you’re not getting along and then you keep bumping into each other,” Obama responded, according to a White House pool transcript.

Once bitter rivals, Obama and McCain have recently joined forces at times in seeking to upend the tea party’s grasp on Congressional politics. In particular, the two have worked to resolve major budget rifts and break Senate gridlock.
