President Obama insisted at a town hall in Cincinnati on Monday that an equal number of girls and boys be allowed to ask questions, promising to take questions in alternating order, girl-boy-girl-boy. But when Obama called on one woman, she tried to pass the mic to her husband. Obama objected.

“No, you can’t do that. I called on the young lady,” Obama said. “That is what’s called a bait-and-switch.”

In the end, Obama came up with a compromise: “OK, here is what I’m going to do. I’m going to let him go ahead and ask his question, and then I’m going to call on two women in a row, because this is — we got cheated here.”
