As part of their effort to shore up support for health care reform, the Obama campaign launched a new Facebook page titled “I Like Obamacare.” The Facebook timeline begins in 1912, with former President Teddy Roosevelt proposing a national health insurance plan on the campaign trail. The timeline then jumps to the 1930s, and displays calls for health care reform made in every decade all the way until 2010. The top of the page reads: “Presidents tried to bring health care reform to America for nearly a century. This President got the job done.”
This month, as reform hits its two-year anniversary and as the Supreme Court hears arguments on the law’s constitutionality, the campaign has made an aggressive attempt to grow support for the legislation and educate Americans about the law, and to reclaim the “Obamacare” moniker Republicans have used to deride the law.
