The Obama campaign is going after Mitt Romney over the issue of abortion, seeking to portray him as staunchly anti-abortion after the Romney campaign released an ad explaining that Romney supports abortion in the cases of rape, incest and the life of the mother.

The ad replays saying during the GOP primary in 2007 that he would be “delighted” to sign a “ban on all abortions.”

“If Roe v. Wade was overturned, Congress passed a federal ban on all abortions, and it came to your desk – would you sign it?  ‘Yes’, or ‘no?’” CNN’s Anderson Cooper asked Romney.

“Let me say it: I’d be delighted to sign that bill,” Romney replied.

The ad plays Romney’s line twice. Then the narrator ends the ad: “Trying to mislead us? That’s wrong. But ban all abortions? Only if you vote for him.”

The ad will air in Virginia.
