A stay request on changes to North Carolina’s voting laws during the November 2014 elections have been denied by a federal court in North Carolina.

Voting laws in the state requiring people to present government-issued photo IDs to vote and also shortening the early voting period by a week have been criticized as some of the strictest in the country.
