Anti-tax crusader Grover Norquist on Monday hit back at Rep. Peter King for declaring that he isn’t beholden to Norquist’s no-new-taxes pledge.

“The pledge is not for life, but everybody who signed the pledge, including Peter King, who tried to weasel out of it. ‘Shame on him,’ as the New York Sun said today. I hope his wife understands that commitments last a little longer than two years or something,” Norquist said on Piers Morgan’s CNN show.

A growing list of Republican lawmakers are publicly flirting with the idea of breaking Norquist’s anti-tax pledge in a deal to avert the so-called fiscal cliff.
