The father of the co-founder of the investment firm that owns the parent company of Bushmaster, the manufacturer of the rifle used to kill 27 people, including 20 first graders, in Friday’s massacre in Newtown, Conn., himself, it turns out, lives in Newtown.
In a brief interview with Bloomberg News published Tuesday, Martin Feinberg called the shooting “devastating” and “horrendous, truly horrendous.” He declined to comment on Cerberus’ relationship to Bushmaster.
The elder Feinberg lives in a community for people 55 and older called Liberty at Newtown. It’s about 6 miles from Sandy Hook Elementary, where the shooting took place, according to Bloomberg.
Stephen Feinberg, 52, co-founded Cerberus in 1992. On Tuesday, the company announced that it would sell its stake in Freedom Group, the parent company of a number of big name gunmakers, including Bushmaster, the manufacturer of the rifle used in Newtown.
