Speaking at a late press conference in Las Vegas, NV, Newt Gingrich laid out more about his plans for trying to remain in the race. He said his campaign would aim for “a series of victories which by the end of the Texas primary will leave us at about parity with Governor Romney” in terms of delegates. He said that would be a “basis to win the nomination,” saying he had been frontrunner twice already and expected to be again.

Addressing the rumors that swirled today that he might drop out, Gingrich said that on “every” primary or caucus day the Romney team “sends out the rumor that I will withdraw, which is of course their greatest fantasy.”
