Add Newt Gingrich to the list of prominent Georgia Republicans ruling out a bid for Senate next year. Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R) is seen as vulnerable to a primary opponent, but so far some of the best-known Georgia Republicans have said they won’t run. Herman Cain ruled out a run last week. On Tuesday, Newt Gingrich told National Review he won’t run, either.
Gingrich…told National Review Online in an email today that he has “explicitly no interest” in running for Senate.
Former Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel — who became a national figure after a short and controversial stint running the Komen Foundation — is reportedly considering a Senate run.
