Speaking in Plymouth, NH, Newt Gingrich took on President Obama’s recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board. He told the crowd that Congress should “defend our rights” by using “the power of the purse.”

“I hope Congress will defund the NLRB until the President returns to the normal appointments process,” he said. He slammed Obama’s “imperial presidency” and accused him of making such appointments because “he’s paying off his union allies.”

Like Mitt Romney, who had raised a similar accusation against Obama just moments before in a town hall elsewhere in the state, he said these kind of actions would deter businesses from investing in the US.

“He has no interest in governing,” he concluded. “You’re going to see him using the presidency for a whole year in order to try and get reelected.”
