Newark Mayor Cory Booker rescued a woman from a house fire on Thursday, suffering second-degree burns on his hand. Booker was taken to a hospital Thursday for treatment of smoke inhalation, the New Jersey Star-Ledger reports.
Booker recounted the fire to the paper: “I just grabbed her and whipped her out of bed.”
Booker tweeted after the incident:
Thanks 2 all who are concerned. Just suffering smoke inhalation. We got the woman out of the house. We are both off to hospital. I will b ok
