The latest ad from the Romney campaign and RNC Thursday morning reaches out to religious and particularly Catholic voters by decrying Obama’s “war on religion.” Though the ad never mentions contraception, the ad references the mandatory contraception coverage requirement of ‘Obamacare’ that Republicans tried to repeal earlier this year on the grounds that the mandate was a violation of religious freedom.

“Who shares your values?” the narrator asks. “President Obama used his healthcare plan to declare war on religion, forcing religious institutions to go against their faith.”

The video then uses Mitt Romney’s trip to Poland where he met with former Polish President Lech Walesa and praised the late Pope John Paul II.

“[I]n 1979, a son of Poland, Pope John Paul II, spoke words that would bring down an empire….’Be not afraid'” Romney said. The narrator finishes the ad: “When religious freedom is threatened, who do you want to stand with?”
