The Obama campaign is going after Mitt Romney’s promise to Planned Parenthood and opposition the contraception-coverage mandate in a new ad that began running over the weekend. The ad features two women who describe Romney as “out of touch,” and “extreme.”

“This is not the 1950s,” one of the women, Alex, says in the ad. “Contraception is so important to women. It’s about a woman being able to make decisions.” A second woman, Dawn, says, “I don’t remember anyone as extreme as Romney.”

“I don’t think Mitt Romney can even understand the mindset of someone who has to go to Planned Parenthood,” Alex says.

“I think Romney would definitely drag us back,” Dawn says to close the ad.

The ad also displays news articles on Romney’s stances on contraception and Planned Parenthood, including a famous clip of Romney saying, “Planned Parenthood. We’re going to get rid of that.”

This is the second women’s health ad the Obama campaign has released in recent weeks, an attempt to maintain an edge with women voters.
