NBC: Chinese Hacked Obama, McCain 2008 Campaigns

U.S. intelligence officials told NBC News in a report published Thursday that hacking units supported by the People’s Republic of China conducted a large-scale cyberespionage operation into the 2008 presidential campaigns of Barack Obama and John McCain.

Officials said the objective of the operation was to export an extensive amount of data from each campaign, including private emails from advisers.
