NASA Mars Curiosity flight director Bobak Ferdowsi, better known to Web users as “Mohawk Guy,” after photos of his distinctive hairstyle went viral following his appearance in the NASA livestream of the August 6, 2012 landing of the Mars Curiosity Rover on Mars (and the human operators back on Earth, including Ferdowsi), unveiled his new hairstyle on Monday as part of his participation in the Presidential Inauguration Parade in Washington, D.C. The new haircut is still a mohawk, but now Ferdowsi has had “NASA JPL” shaved into the sides of his head (one word on either side), in honor of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, as seen in the following images tweeted by NASA’s official Mars Curiosity Rover Twitter account.:

Ferdowsi was among several NASA engineers who helped construct and then accompanied a float of the NASA Mars Curiosity Rover during Monday’s inauguration parade. NASA engineers also built and drove a float of the agency’s upcoming Orion crew capsule, designed to take engineers into deep space.
