Motorcyclist Accidentally Shot In Chest When His Gun Goes Off During Crash

Police said a motorcyclist in Black Hawk, Colo. accidentally shot himself in the chest when a gun he was carrying went off as he was struck by a car on Wednesday morning.

Television station KMGH reported that Black Hawk Police Chief Stephen Cole said the rider, a 60-year-old man from Pennsylvania, was hit by a sedan and thrown to the ground. As he was ejected from his motorcycle he was shot in the chest by a handgun he was carrying.

The motorcyclist was taken to a Denver hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries, KMGH reported. Police said the other driver took off from the scene after the crash and was arrested a short time later.
