A mother and daughter from Baltimore pleaded guilty on Tuesday to two civil rights charges for hanging a dead raccoon an an African family’s porch, the Justice Department announced.
Dena Whedbee, 42, and 20-year-old daughter Brittany Whedbee pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to deprive a person of civil rights and one count of violating the Fair Housing Act, DOJ said. The Whedbees admitted they found the dead raccoon and encouraged Joshua Wall, 20, and Billy Pratt, 24, to hang the rat on a noose on the family’s porch in April 2010. Wall and Pratt already pleaded guilty and will be sentenced in August.
