Three Republican members of the U.S. House told ThinkProgress that they would help their constituents navigate Obamacare, cutting against the party line of defunding or otherwise obstructing the federal health reform law.

U.S. Reps. Jeff Denham (R-CA), Tom McClintock (R-CA) and Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) told the liberal news outlet that they would advise people who called their office on how to get health coverage under the law. As McClintock put it, helping citizens connect with federal programs is “one of the primary functions of our office.”

All three Congress members stressed that they still oppose Obamacare, but their willingness to help constituents with the program stands in stark contrast to other Hill Republicans, like U.S. Sen Ted Cruz, who have urged the party to pursue defunding of the health law, no matter how unlikely that might be. Others, such as U.S. Reps. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS) and Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), have said they would not help their constituents find health coverage under the law.
