Minnesota Voter ID Constitutional Amendment Proposal Passes House

After nine hours of debate, the Minnesota House passed a bill around 2 a.m. on Wednesday morning that would have voters decide in November whether to amend the state constitution to require photo ID at the polls.

The straight party line vote — 72 Republicans, 62 Democrats — sends the proposal to the Senate. Gov. Mark Dayton had vetoed a voter ID bill last year.
