The Democratic-controlled state Senate in Minnesota is expected to debate and vote on legislation that would make same-sex marriage legal.

Debate will begin on the bill at noon CST, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The bill is expected be approved by the state Senate and Gov. Mark Dayton (D) has already pledged to sign it into law. The bill passed in the state House of Representatives, where Democrats are also in the majority, last week.
