Microsoft’s Surface tablet will be available in additional retail outlets aside from the Microsoft Store beginning in-mid December, the company announced in a press release on Tuesday. Among the new locations to carry Surface tablets will be Staples, which on Tuesday announced availability of several device models (all running the light version of Windows 8, Windows RT) beginning December 12. Other retail outlets are expected to be announced.
Microsoft’s general manager for Surface, Panos Panay, attempted to deflect reports from third–party analysts that the Surface, which debuted on October 26, is selling poorly, due in part to its previously limited distribution online and in Microsoft Stores around North America.
“The public reaction to Surface has been exciting to see. We’ve increased production” Panay said.
