Microsoft has sold over 14 million copies of its new Windows 8 operating system in the five days since it was officially launched, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said at a Windows “BUILD” conference on Tuesday, The Next Web reported. Specifically, Microsoft has sold 4 million upgrades of Windows 8 including purchases directly by consumers and by retail stores, and sold “tens of millions” more copies to Microsoft’s third-party PC manufacturing partner companies, such as Dell, Lenovo, Sony, Asus and Acer.
