Former RNC Chairman Michael Steele defended the state of the Republican primary, telling Mother Jones that “I wanted a brokered convention.” Steele was behind the RNC rule changes that are complicating the current Republican primary. 

Not everyone in the GOP loves the changes. As Mother Jones pointed out, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie called it “the dumbest idea anybody ever had,” and the head of the Vermont Republican Party likened primary calendar to “water torture.”
