During his last Senate presser before the November election, Mitch McConnell refused to comment on how his party’s nominee might impact down ballot races.

“Not something I’m going to discuss today,” McConnell said when asked about how Trump might affect his members up for re-election.

McConnell said did say, however, that many of the country’s Senate races in states like New Hampshire and Pennsylvania, for example, were so close they were like a “knife fight in a phone booth.”

There are two dozen Republicans up for re-election in November – many of whom are running in states where President Obama won in 2008 and 2012. Republicans are defending seats in Florida, New Hampshire, Illinois, Wisconsin and Ohio, for example.
