A spokesman from Sen. Claire McCaskill’s campaign has responded to a Kansas City Star report revealing that the Missouri Democrat missed a tax filing deadline on her Washington, D.C. condominium:
“The simple truth is that Claire’s condo taxes are currently overpaid by $1,600,” Erik Dorey, McCaskill’s spokesman, told TPM. “It’s just another attempt to change the conversation from the fact that all three Republican Senate candidates are failing to gain traction with Missouri voters because they’re so extreme they would rubberstamp the special interest agenda—privatizing Social Security and Medicare, ending federal student loans and raising taxes on middle class families while protecting billions in federal handouts to Big Oil.”
