Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), one of the major opponents to UN Ambassador Susan Rice’s potential appointment as the country’s top diplomat, on Thursday thanked Rice following her announcement that she would be withdrawing her name from consideration. Statement from McCain’s office, via CNN:

“Senator McCain thanks Ambassador Rice for her service to the country and wishes her well. He will continue to seek all of the facts surrounding the attack on or consulate in Benghazi that killed four brave Americans.”
