McCain Seeks Out ’08 South Carolina Supporters For Mitt

Along with his recent appearances on the stump, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) has been lending his support to Mitt Romney by privately courting old supporters in South Carolina. According to CNN, McCain has approached elected officials in the state who endorsed him in the 2008 presidential campaign to gauge their support for the former Massachusetts governor. It is the latest effort by the Romney campaign to stem the momentum of the suddenly surging Rick Santorum and seal the nomination early.
