Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said Sunday he is “guardedly optimistic” that Democrats and Republicans can come up with an immigration reform bill that will include both border security provisions and a path to citizenship for the 11 million undocumented immigrants currently in the United States.
“I’m confident, guardedly optimistic, that this time we can get it done,” McCain said on ABC’s “This Week.”
McCain is part of a bipartisan group of senators working on immigration that will announce the guiding principles of their reform efforts soon before getting down to crafting the legislation.
