Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), who opposes some of his colleagues’ decision to filibuster new gun legislation, said Sunday that he doesn’t “understand” why they would do this.

“I don’t understand it,” McCain said on CBS’ Face the Nation.” “The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where to stand.”

Thirteen Republican senators are currently pledging to filibuster any gun control bill.
