Mark Sanford, the former South Carolina governor and three-term congressman, is planning a return go the House, running for the seat recently vacated by Tim Scott, he told National Review Online.

Sanford plans to officially announce his run Wednesday. Officially we’re going to announce tomorrow, and then it’s off to the races,” he said in the interview published Tuesday.

Sanford found himself in the national spotlight when he disappeared from his state on what turned out to be a visit to his mistress in Argentina. Sanford and his wife, Jenny Sanford, divorced. She said who this week said she would not run for the open seat her ex-husband was rumored to be seeking.
