Former Gov. Mark Sanford (R-SC), who is staging his political comeback with a run for the open House seat in South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, said Wednesday that Washington would work better if politicians had more humility.

“If you want real conversations in Washington, D.C., I think it means an added level of humility when you say, look, ‘I know what I believe. I know why I believe it. I think the numbers are on my side. But let me sit down with you and let me just better understand where you’re coming from,'” Sanford said during an interview on CNN Wednesday. “If we had more of those conversations, we see more things get done in Washington to make a difference in people’s lives.”
