Nearly two weeks after Election Day, Sen. Mark Begich (D-AK) conceded the Alaska Senate race Monday to his Republican challenger Dan Sullivan.

Begich issued a statement Monday saying that he had called Sullivan to congratulate him on his victory. The Associated Press called the election for Sullivan last Wednesday, when he led by 8,100 votes.

“When I spoke with Dan Sullivan today, I encouraged him to adopt a bipartisan resolve in the Senate,” Begich said. “Alaska is ill-served by the partisan fights that don’t reflect our state’s unique needs and priorities.”
