A North Carolina man will be charged with murder in the deadly stabbing of a 29-year-old Democratic strategist, the Raleigh, N.C. Police Department confirmed to TPM on Wednesday morning.
After Jamie Kirk Hahn died early Wednesday from injuries related to the Monday night stabbing in her Raleigh home, police said they will withdraw the arrest warrant charging 31-year-old Jonathan Broyhill with attempted murder and will “present probable cause for an arrest warrant charging him with murder.” No other suspects are currently being sought.
Police who responded to a 911 call on Monday found Hahn, her husband, Nation Hahn, and Broyhill suffering from stabbing wounds at the Hahns’ home in northern Raleigh. Nation Hahn was released from WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh after being treated for injuries. Police said arrest warrants will be served to Broyhill when he is released from WakeMed, where he is undergoing treatment for self-inflicted wounds. Broyhill and Jamie Hahn worked together at Sky Blue Strategies, the Democratic firm she founded.
An additional charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury will remain in place against Broyhill, according to police.
