Republicans looking to bring their party around on immigration are set to launch a major ad campaign in support Congressional efforts to pass a comprehensive bill. According to Politico, the American Action Network, which spent $44 million backing GOP candidates in 2011 and 2012, is preparing a broad and long-term advocacy campaign to boost conservative lawmakers who could face a backlash from their constituents if they vote for a path to citizenship for the nations’ 11 million undocumented immigrants.

The first ad features Carlos Gutierrez, who was Commerce Secretary under President Bush and leading his own pro-immigration group, discussing his own success story as an immigrant from Cuba.
