Rep. Mike Michaud (D-ME) announced Thursday that he is exploring a gubernatorial run in 2014, launching a new website that allows supporters to donate and learn more about him.

“I have been greatly honored and humbled by the countless Mainers across the state — Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike — who have approached me in recent months and asked that I consider a run for governor,” Michaud said in a statement. “I’ve listened and I have heard their frustrations with Augusta, which is why today I am forming an exploratory committee to better gauge the depth of that support, its fundraising capacity and the level of volunteer engagement for a possible campaign.”
