CNN’s exit polling from Saturday night’s Louisiana Republican primary results didn’t deviate much from one storyline — former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum taking the lion’s share of votes accross most demographic groups and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney lagging behind in second. But one split did occur on religion.

A majority of those Louisiana Republicans who defined themselves as evangelical Christians (55 percent of the population), Santorum won by a healther majority of 55 percent. Among those who didn’t (45 percent in CNN’s numbers), Romney was able to win a small one point victory 36 – 35.
