Former Sen. George LeMieux is dropping out of the Republican Senate primary in Florida, essentially guaranteeing a win for Rep. Connie Mack. In a three-minute video, LeMieux said that he was bowing out for the good of the party and to ensure that Mack can defeat incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson in the fall.

Though LeMieux throws his support behind Mack in the video, he also takes some jabs at both Mack and the party establishment, blaming them for his unsuccessful race.

From the video:

The establishment has thrown their support behind my competitor, Connie Mack. Ahead of us in the polls, the Mack name enjoys widespread recognition that can only be matched with substantial advertising or the opportunity to debate on statewide television.

Advertising, which our finances cannot support, and debates, which my competitor won’t agree to.
